Some stories don’t begin in boardrooms. Some begin in courtrooms. At 16 years old, Michael D. Ratcliff was a young man the system had already written off. Caught in the gravitational pull of the streets, he entered the juvenile justice system, spending six years navigating a world designed to contain him, not develop him. During that time, his story caught the attention of National Geographic, who documented his journey.
Upon his release, he returned with a plan, not to the streets. Today, Michael is the founder of four thriving businesses:
